Stardollian sex? and I thought it couldn't get any worse....

I won't bore you with the usual monotone post filled with waffle and pointless facts inn a poor attempt to get you all to like me, but get straight to the point of the post...

After reading an endearing post concerning the sexualisation of some of Stardolls members I pondered upon the many reasons why younger dolls would want to dress in such diminishing attire. Attention seeking and possibly famewhoreing crossed my mind on numerous occasions but it was only when I received an absolutely repulsive comment in my guestbook and looked at the offenders suite I discovered a darker undiscovered part of the supposedly 'child friendly' site we call stardoll.
With disproportional bodies, clad in fishnets and flimsy underwear is this a new age of stardoll sex dolls? The presentations state that the particular member wants to find a partner to engage in some kind of 'sex' through suite chat. Suggestive names such as 'touchmehardbaby' featured under the last visited column of the suite. The only question on my lips is 'What the hell are they thinking?'

Examples of comments found in the offender’s guestbook:
*Comments may not be suitable for younger audiences*

It's been sitting undiscovered under our noses for goodness knows how long. One thing for sure Stardoll really need to get their priorities in order...

The more you pay attention to those people, the more they will do it.

Those are just attention seekers, as far as I am concerned, little children who want to cause drama...and they are doing it well, aren't they? Nothing serious.

I hope to the heavens that you reported them. If you did not, let me know who they are and I'll do it.

This is totally sick and does a lot of damage to the kids on Stardoll, as well as Stardoll itself.

How is it famewhoring to adress sexuality on Stardoll? half of the people in this "world" we have created flirt with sexuality everyday. So when it's someone who isn't popular they get criticized for sending hillariously sexual messages? It's nothing to take seriously. Of course people do it for attention sometimes, yet why is it even important? Is it because it's being done off of a blog and on Stardoll?

This isn't new news at all, unfortunately.
There are TONS of these kinds of posts on a blog I write for, theuglysideofstardoll.blogspot.com, dating back more than a year.
It's really sad, but it does make for some good entertainment.
I have people on my page now leaving vulgar comments & friend requests just to be featured in my posts.
There are really some sickos out in the world today.
Steer clear of them on Stardoll and real life.

Somebody should do a post about Stardoll's most recent Antidote collection glorifying drug culture.

^ I don't see why.

It's not like a 10 year old girl is going to be like "OMG STARDOLL MADE A PILL SOFA, BETTER GO TAKE SOME ECSTASY!"

@ Anon above:

I know this is off-topic, but would one of you be able to post about SOPA? That bill will completely change the internet, the Stardoll community included. There are a few thousand of us who read this blog, and if a few more called U.S. senators (American or not), the Internet just may have a fighting chance. That bill would change everything -- this blog and others like it may not even exist if it's passed, from what I understand.
Just putting that out there. We've got power, guys, and we need to use it.

@Aquamarina: I've got it covered in 3 blogs ;]
One is my private blog, so i doubt people would read it:

RE the antidote pill thing- the only issue that I had with it was the items named 'pill pop'- popping a pill means to take a drug recreationally. It's a direct reference, which is terrible. It's like calling a dress the 'getting plastered on vodka dress', or the 'shooting heroin shoes'. It was obviously an oversight, but still bad. The pill sofa is shaped like a pescription pill (ecstasy pills for example don't look like that) which isn't nearly so bad but you can still abuse them. Nobody is saying that these items will directly make someone use, but they still have a certain symbolism that will add to a memory bank of references and understanding. I am a commercial designer so I am responsible for ensuring that the symbolism/messages of my work are ethical, and the pill thing strikes me as distasteful. Plus consider that the antidote collection is based off a real-designers collection (jeremy scott??). Some designers try to be controversial and 'naughty' to create press. They WANT the critisism. Just because it is a professional fashion product, doesn't automatically make it appropriate for kids.

To sign off a way too long comment- often you only realise how much 'damage' general media has done to you when you are older and it is too late. Little pieces of the puzzle make a whole- I definately went through a 'drugs are cool' stage and I would do anything to take that back, some of my friends might still be alive today.
